If you are here then you must already know me to some extent. But, in case you don’t, I am a trainer that coaches professional and amateur pickleball players around the country.

I work in the gym with real people, and I have perfected the online coaching systems.

Why the Essentials program?

This isn’t a workout challenge. You aren’t expected to transform your body in 6 weeks and then be done. That’s not realistic, and neither are any “quick fixes”. The goal of this program is to get you started on a healthy lifestyle and teach good training and eating habits.

  • If you’re JUST looking to get jacked, increase your bench press, or want to train for aesthetics. This program is NOT for you.

    I train people who are looking to attain better performance with aesthetics as a bi-product. We train movements, patterns, and functions as the priority.

    I’ve trained loads of professional athletes in many different sports, and most of them have amazing physiques, solely as a byproduct of training for their sport. As such, the way I train most clients is a slightly toned-down version of how the pro athletes train, utilizing compound exercises that take the body through all the key movement patterns.

  • Your priority is completing and giving your best effort to the 3 workouts in the plan. We like to follow the high/low model - a high stress day followed by a low stress day. So doing things like:

    • walking

    • drilling

    • hiking

    • yoga

    • pilates

    • swimming

    • light cardio

    This is the time to add in things that enjoy (especially if you don’t enjoy training) because we want your routine to give you life, not be a chore.

  • I have designed this program with the ability to be scaled and modified for most home gym setups. If you have:

    Barbell, Dumbbells, Kettlebells, Bands, Medicine Ball, TRX, and a Bench then you will be able to do everything as prescribed.

    BUT we have designed alternate exercises so that you can get the same benefits with:

    Dumbbells, Bands, Medicine Ball, and a Bench.

  • Each week consists of 5 workouts - 3 high intent workouts and 2 low intensity mobility sessions. The exact days you do the workout is up to you, so don’t feel pressured to stick to a rigid routine if you have a busy schedule. Ideally, you will have a lower intent session (off day or mobility) in between your high intensity sessions. In a perfect world, your strength sessions would fall on Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.

    If you need to train on consecutive days, you can. It isn’t the perfect model but within this program we plan accordingly so that it is acceptable.

    If life gets busy and you have to miss a scheduled workout for whatever reason, don’t skip that workout entirely. Just pick up where you left off and keep going. If you only get two workouts in one week, just start with the 3rd workout on the next week.

  • Exercise should NOT hurt. If something hurts, you shouldn’t be doing it. If one of my athletes has an injury, I refer them to a physical therapist or a doctor to treat the injury and we will work around the injury.

    Seek medical help from a qualified and trusted professional, and when it comes to the workouts, focus on what you can do without pain.
